Automotive cockpit HMI (Human Machine Interface) has been drastically evolving with digital mediums, culture, and trends of how people are living. I have created this project to approach this challenging, yet very interesting problem solving.

This is a solution for one of three car model segments, Hybrid model, who cares for efficiency more than high performance, with the possible release in 2023 with the technology available by then.

Situation

A current interior design of most cars are having an instrument cluster and an infotainment screen separately. With Toyota Prius, there is a third screen in the center and back position. They work independently.

Integrated UX/UI System

A proposed idea is to integrate UI contents in all three screens as one holistic experience to achieve one ultimate goal – Keep your eyes on an instrument cluster screen for as long as possible. User can move the infotainment app to the central data icon area, and the centeral data icon can move to the instrument cluster area to become a driver's primary content.

Packaged App

In another word, each data info has a condition for each screen area and treated as a packaged app. A third-party company can create an unique app to add in this system, just like the smart phone app system. The configuration can be as personal and infinite as each individual driver out there.
